If you are anything like me, when doing laundry, I always ignore the measurements when I am pouring laundry detergent, I buy from the store, in the washer. I end up throwing extra in, just to make sure all my clothes are extra clean & smelling great. That’s all good until you are buying laundry soap 2 to 3x a month for just a 4 now 5 member household.
I needed to make some changes, and so I began to do some research. I have read and seen so many posts on homemade laundry soap, some liquid, some powder and I have even read some using peroxide in their laundry soap.
Everyone uses different ingredients that works for them and their lifestyle and family. That is exactly what I was doing, I was looking for a laundry soap that I can use ALL the time, and not have to buy 2 different kinds of detergents for color, whites AND for cloth diapers (that is a whole different topic). So from ALL the articles I read I came up with a recipe that is PERFECT for my family, including cloth diapers.
This is my first attempt at making this laundry soap and so far I’m impressed. It is soo perfect and is better than TIDE! This keeps all my color clothes perfect with no fading and keeps my whites white.
You want to make your own Laundry soap? Here’s how I did it… (with a twist)
(All ingredients you can find in the laundry aisle at the supermarket)
1. One 4 pound box of Borax
2. Three bars of Fels-Naptha soap
3. One 4 pound box of arm & hammer baking soda
4. One box of arm & hammer super washing soda
5. Four pounds of Oxy Clean (One small/one large container)
6. Scentsy Washer Whiffs (Order Here) <<< The Washer Whiffs!!
Like I stated before, I LOVE this stuff. I have used this soap now for a few weeks, and have fallen in love with it. I really believe this batch will last me for a year. So the total cost for my laundry soap ingredients… Less than $20. That is excellent for laundry detergent that will last a year!
