Every year in November everyone talks about what they are thankful for each day. Today I am thankful for deployments. My husband has been in the military for about 13 years, been married for about 8 years and been through 5 to 6 deployments since being married. I’m not new to deployments and the struggles military spouses go through. The hurt and pain I feel every time I hear: “Babe, I’m deploying…” is new every time.
But through the years, my husband and I have learned through struggles, pain and hurt that deployments can cause, has made us into better individuals, closer and much stronger as a married couple.
I had the opportunity to review an e-book: Journey Through Deployment by Kathryn Sneed the writer behind the blog: Singing through the rain This book has truly blessed me in so many ways. In this book she describes her journey through her 1st deployment, the struggles, and the blessings she’s found while going through the process and how to go through it with God’s help. She provides resources, testimonies from other spouses and scriptures to help you get through it.
I laughed, cried and nodded my head in agreement to EVERYTHING she has written in this book about military spouses and deployments. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone and anyone who is new to deployments, veterans (like me) who have been there and done everything with deployments, can learn so much from the tips and advice she gives in this book, also civilians that want to know how they can help the troops and spouses and even get tips on how to cop with deployment from a Godly stand point.
