Jeremiah 23:16 (amp)
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Do not listen to the words of the [false] prophets who prophesy to you. They teach you vanity (emptiness, falsity, and futility) and fill you with vain hopes; they speak a vision of their own minds and not from the mouth of the Lord.”
In the first couple years of our marriage was pretty rough. My mother in law in the beginning of our relationship, did not want us to get married, she didn’t even attend our wedding, because she disagreed with it so much. We had a tough time communicating with each other, we both was carrying baggage from our past and it was affecting our relationship. At the time I didn’t see us lasting too long. We had arguments all the time, even though I wanted to love him and have a happy marriage, at the time I didn’t see it.
But God… He is so good! If my husband would have listened to his mom (my mother in law) in the beginning we wouldn’t be together now. He taught us examples from other married couples, taught us how to love each other and now I can’t see myself without him. The other night my husband told me: “I see us growing old together!” This was just a reminder of what God is doing in our marriage. It’s so important to listen to God and not what others say.
What type of future do you see in your marriage?
I pray that you would give us a vision for our future as a couple, as one. Help us to understand that your plans for us are for good and not evil (Jeremiah 29:11). Fill us with the knowledge, grant us wisdom and understanding of your will for our lives and marriage, that we may have a walk worthy of you, fully pleasing you, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of you (Colossians 1:9,10). Help us to mature and grow in you daily. Grant us God-ordained goals and show us how to conduct ourselves in a way that always invest in our future. Helps us to always have an ear for you and the things you say and not be moved by naysayers.
In Jesus name, AMEN!
