“More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Today marks 8 years of my wedding anniversary. Its kind of funny how trials is the word for today. In this picture and behind our smiles was a lot of pain we had to work through. Those first couple of years was tough. Two VERY different people, with different culture backgrounds, lifestyles, personalities etc. All of that, including baggage from previous relationships we’ve both been through, bringing it into this marriage.
Trials… It’s almost fitting because everything we went through in the beginning has made us stronger. We have more wisdom and love for each other like never before. So Today I think God for the trials we went through, because just like the scripture stated above, we are different because of it.
You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Strengthen our hearts lord for this battle and give us patience to wait on you. Build us up so that no matter what happens we will be able to stand strong through it all. Help us to always “rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulations, continuing steadfastly in prayer” (Romans 12:12). Give us endurance to run the race and not give up. Help us to remember that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord upholds him with him HIS hand” (Psalm 37:23-24).
I pray we will look to you to be our “refuge until these calamities have passed by” (Psalm 57:1). I pray that we will have the strength in you as we cry out to you, you will us and save us out of all our troubles (psalm 34:6). Thank you for being with us and guiding us. In Jesus name, Amen!
