I feel as though communication is one of the first thing married couples struggle with throughout the marriage. I know for my husband and I it was. We could barely hold conversations together because we just didn’t understand one another, let alone communicate.
Now after 8 years, it’s not perfect but we have much more of an understanding now of how we communicate. We still struggle, and it’s still a prayer of mine to better communicate with my husband.
Is it still a struggle to communicate with your spouse, comment below!
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
I pray that you would guard our mouth so that we will only speak things that will edify and bring life to our marriage. Teach us to not complain, grumble, use foul language, or use words to destroy each other, but be discipline enough to keep our conversation godly, fruitful and life-giving.
Your word says “A man who desires a long life must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit.” (Psalm 34:12-13) Teach us how to do that. Fill our hearts with love that out of the overflow of our hearts will come words that will build up and not tear down. (Luke 6:45)
Show us to show each other respect, speak words that encourage, an atmosphere of peace to where we are able to share our feelings clear and openly. Help us to speak words of wisdom and encouragement to one another. Let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O’ Lord, our strength and redeemer. (Psalm 19:14) In Jesus name, AMEN!
