1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
4 Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily.
5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong].
6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail.
7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].
I can say that through the years of us being married, there has been extreme ups and downs, but what I have realized is that through the trials of our relationship, it has made us stronger. In the scripture above, Verse seven speaks to me the most: Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening
My husband and I endure because of God. I always say he is the thread that holds us together.
I know as married couples, you’ve been through some ups and downs, has it made you stronger as a couple or are you still going through the trial?
Lord, I thank you for creating marriage, I thank you for bringing my husband and I together to glorify you. I thank You that You are the God of love and Your Spirit of love dwells within us. I pray You would fill us with Your unfailing and unconditional love. With the weakness, frailty, and wavering of our human love—which too often relies on feelings, circumstances, and situations—I know we cannot make our marriage successful. We need Your love to be the driving force.
Show us how. Help us to deliberately show love to each other in ways we can clearly see and understand. Help us to feel love for each other even in difficult times between us. Enable us to get beyond our own needs and become a conduit of your unfailing love. May Your love be seen in our marriage at all times.
In Jesus name, AMEN!
