I LOVE kombucha and the benefits of drinking it. I Learned from another mom that started making her own kombucha and did a class on how to make it. I was so excited to try it for myself and nervous at the same time because its bacteria I’m making and drinking. This was weird to me at first.
What is Kombucha?
Kombucha tea is a fermented drink made with tea, sugar, bacteria and yeast. (Just like sweet tea but healthier!) This drink replaces the bad bacteria in your body with good! When I first came across this drink it was at a health food store, my mother took me too and I tried the ginger flavor, I did not like it AT ALL and was VERY much turned off from it. NOW…I have learned the benefits and found that I can make it myself and adjust the taste to it, I was hooked and never looked back. So far, I’ve been drinking kombucha for 1 month now and I can see the benefits already. My husband and children have all been sick, except me. I can already see the benefits to drinking kombucha and I LOVE it!!
Kombucha is an excellent source for the intestines, which has loads of vitamins and detoxification properties to cleanse the body and support a healthy Immune system.

How to make Kombucha Tea:
You will need a leathery pancake called: A Scoby. That stands for “Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and Yeast.” “Symbiotic” means that the bacteria and yeast strains live together in a complex, mutually supportive community, supporting and depending on each other. The “SCOBY” is sometimes called the mushroom, because it resembles the smooth, thick body of a mushroom. The specific bacteria and yeast strains in the Kombucha is what gives it its taste and what produce the fizz and flavor we get from kombucha.
Here is an actual picture to help you understand how to make it. Source.
This is the result after 5 to 7 days, The SCOBY double in size! This was in a gallon container, the scoby will take the shape of the container its in.
You just read the first process of making Kombucha. Now, to flavor your kombucha and make it like “soda” This is the 2nd process.
Once you have your kombucha made you will get a container with a tight seal, as pictured above to trap the carbonation and in 1 to 2 days you will have “Soda” AKA “Kombuchafizz”
Make sure you “Burp” your bottle, which means open it to release the pressure building up in the bottle, so that it won’t explode like a shaken bottle or can of soda, will explode when shaken.
I explain more about it in this video!
