S.M.A.R.T goals stands for Specific, Measurable, Achieving, Realistic and Timely is what every small business/entrepreneur uses to make their business vision a reality, by setting these goals and achieving them, you can be successful in business. What is your definition of success? For me, its being led by God and trusting that He has a better plan for me (Jeremiah 29:11), instead of following what everyone else thinks success is, by following these SMART goals for the kingdom, I am guaranteed success in ministry, family life and business.
God uses us to accomplish His purpose on earth. In order for us to do that effectively we have to use kingdom thinking, in achieving that we use S.M.A.R.T goals for the christian entrepreneur, (To do the will of the one who sent me). S-Seek, M-Meditate, A-Armor, R- Run, T-Transformation. Keys to being successful in life, business and in ministry, Let me explain:
S-Seek: (Matthew 6:33)
“But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides.”
NOTE: Seeking God in marriage, in family life, in ministry, in business, etc. in His way of doing things to be successful. This is VERY important to do as a christian entrepreneur.
M-Meditate: (Joshua 1:8)
“This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.”
NOTE: Mediating on the word of God can help you stay focus on the purpose and plans God has for you.
A-Armor: (Ephesians 6:11-13)
“Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.
Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place].”
NOTE: Seeking first the kingdom is spiritual, the way God do things, we have to always be in prayer, reading the bible, mediating on the word of God and being led by the spirit is important spiritual keys in succeeding in business, marriage, family life, etc.
R- Run: (Hebrews 12:1)
“Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us.”
NOTE: Perseverance is staying in the race no matter what the obstacle. As a christian entrepreneur this is very important because life happens and can cause you to sometimes press through a little harder. I made the mistake of letting go of my business a few years ago because I became discouraged, and lost out on helping women and missing out on the blessings God had in store for me. The lesson I learned: DON’T QUIT!
T-Transformation: (Romans 12:2)
“Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].”
NOTE: God is more concern with our heart then putting money in our pocket or bank account. It’s important that our heart and mindset is in line with kingdom thinking, the way God does things. It’s not easy and it takes a lot of prayer, seeking God’s face and FAITH!
