Lakesha Cole has served as an indispensable resource in helping women and military spouses increase their levels of performance in their personal and professional life and inspiring young girls to reach their full potential.
A business woman, entrepreneur, mother and Marine Corps spouse, Lakesha was selected as the 2014 Armed Forces Insurance Military Spouse of the Year® for her impact on community change, volunteer efforts, personal sacrifice, professional pursuits, goals, and her efforts to support the military community. Lakesha represents the millions of past and present military spouses who continue to thrive in a wartime environment, dedicate their lives and families to service of a grateful nation and give back to a community in need.
Lakesha is the CEO and owner of She Swank | Too, a specialty boutique for girls featuring beautifully constructed handmade collections by military spouses that are created with artisanship in mind. Her dream to reality of owning a boutique started as an idea five years ago while sitting in her tiny apartment, with a one-year-old, a deployed spouse and all of her family 2,000+ miles away. Today, her brand has traveled to customers in all 50 states and two countries; leading to the opening of two successful pop-up shops in Okinawa, Japan.
Her commitment to authenticity is at the core of how she lives her life and run her business. Lakesha was selected into the Military Entrepreneur Program by Inc. Magazine. She received mentoring from CEOs amongst Inc.’s 500|5000 Fastest Growing Company List and from some of the best business minds in the world. She now serves as a mentor to military spouse entrepreneurs and eagerly share her experiences to assist spouses in starting, surviving and succeeding in small business, despite the daily challenges of the military lifestyle.
Lakesha earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with a minor in Public Relations from North Carolina A&T State University. In 2014 she earned an Associates of Applied Science in Retail Marketing from Parsons The New School for Design.
Lakesha and her family are currently stationed at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma in Okinawa, Japan.
