The author Welby O’Brien shares as a counselor and from her personal experience of living with a 100% disabled veteran with PTSD, Welby are caught in the wake of the trauma. This book addresses a broad spectrum of issues and concerns and offers realistic wisdom from a wide variety of individuals who share from real hearts and lives. She has a masters degree in counseling from Portland state university and a teaching degree from Biola university. Her most important qualification is that she is married to a veteran with PTSD. Welby initiated and continues to lead a family support network known as Love our Vets. She lives what she writes.
I have a few friends that are married to spouses that have been diagnose with PTSD. A lot of statements I get is about how can I help my husband, help my children and myself? I LOVE that this book, gives testimonies, wisdom filled with tips and advice of a counselor and someone who is going through it.
She gives tips one how to take care of yourself:
2- Soak up all the love you receive.
3- Seek out wise counsel
4- Surround yourself with healthy people who are good for you.
5-Create a special safe place that is just for you.
6- Take a regular physical inventory of your body.
7- Saturate every sense with good and pleasant things.
