When I married my husband, I didn’t know what I was getting into. Long work hours, frequent deployments and the Communication is not only long-distance, it is often less intimate and unreliable, especially with today’s technology, communication is not constant. My last deployment was very challenging. We had 4 kids at that time and my little one was only 9 mo old when her dad deployed for almost 7 mo. We had no family near by… The only family I’d been my church family. My church at that time was my second home. My friends from church were more than friends to me, they were like family. They made me feel loved, they made my kids feel loved. During this deployment it wasn’t easy dealing with my oldest. He knew [Continue Reading…]
I’m participating in the 2014 Believe in Heroes® blogger campaign and received compensation as part of the program. Believe in Heroes® was established in 2010 to bring grocery retailers, trusted brands, and shoppers together to raise funds for Wounded Warrior Project, a non-profit organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors. The campaign has generated $16 million for Wounded Warrior Project to date and has helped enable the expansion of its critical veteran programs that now directly serve more than 40,000 injured service members. Beginning September 7, 2014 and running through Veterans Day, November 11, 2014, Believe in Heroes® calls on Americans to show their support and appreciation for the newest generation of veterans through the common household task of grocery shopping, while enjoying great savings and sharing [Continue Reading…]
Fears… Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Prayer: Lord, I pray that fear will not rule over us. Instead may your word penetrate every fiber of our being, letting us know that your love for us is far greater than anything we face and nothing can separate us from it. You have not given us a spirit of fear. You’ve given us power love, and a sound mind. (2 timothy 1:7). My husband and I will not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday (psalm 91:5-6). In Jesus name, AMEN!
Mind… 1 Corinthians 2:16 “….But we have the mind of Christ.” Lord, I pray that you protect our minds. Shield us from the lies of the enemy. Help us to clearly discern between your voice and any other, and show us how to take every thought captive as you have instructed us to do. May we thirst for your word and hunger for your truth so that we can recognize wrong thinking. Give us strength to resist lying thoughts and remind us that we have the mind of Christ. Enable us to be “strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” (Ephesians 6:10). Help us to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let our requests be made known to you, [Continue Reading…]
Protection… Psalm 91:1-2 (amp) “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God, on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!” My husband is military and every time he is called to deployment, protection is the first thing on my mind for him. I know he’s thinking the same thing for me and our children, but through the years we have learned to always pray from the time we find out he’s leaving to the time he boards the plane to leave. Prayer for protection is key! Lord, I pray that you [Continue Reading…]
