(Source) Compassion means to have a concern for the misfortune of others, keeping our hearts open to seriously think about the needs of the world. Today marks 13 years of horrible incident that happen in NY, PA and DC. This morning my devotional was about compassion and I wanted to share that on my blog. Fears… Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” Prayer: Lord, I pray that fear will not rule over us. Instead may your word penetrate every fiber of our being, letting us know that your love for us is far greater than anything we face and nothing can separate us from it. You have not given us a spirit of fear. You’ve given us power love, and a sound mind. (2 timothy 1:7). My husband and I will not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday (psalm 91:5-6). Forgiveness Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” Forgiveness is something I had to learn through trial and error through the years with my husband and I. We both did and it wasn’t easy but by the grace of God, we got through it and still practicing forgiveness. Prayer… Lord, Thank you for the gift of forgiveness and the blessing that comes with it, when someone truly let go and forgive the other person. Lord, give us the strength and willingness to forgive and move on with our lives and not hold on to the bitterness forgiveness brings. We thank you for your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Reputation… Proverbs 22:1- A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold. ***Prayer: Lord, I pray that as a married couple our reputation is untarnished in any way. We know that a man is often valued “by what others say of him” (Proverbs 27:21), I pray that we will be respected in our town and people will speak highly of us. Keep us safe from the evil of gossiping mouths. Where there has been ill spoken of us, touch the lips of those who speak it with your refining fire. Mind… 1 Corinthians 2:16 “….But we have the mind of Christ.” Lord, I pray that you protect our minds. Shield us from the lies of the enemy. Help us to clearly discern between your voice and any other, and show us how to take every thought captive as you have instructed us to do. May we thirst for your word and hunger for your truth so that we can recognize wrong thinking. Give us strength to resist lying thoughts and remind us that we have the mind of Christ. Protection… Psalm 91:1-2 (amp) “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty [Whose power no foe can withstand]. I will say of the Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God, on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!” My husband is military and every time he is called to deployment, protection is the first thing on my mind for him.
